Unnecessary Registry Items

unnecessary registry items

I purchased a ton of items in preparation for the birth of Bella and some of the items I felt were unnecessary. Here is a list of the things that helped a little but in the end were not worth the money and why.

Doc-A-Tot
I kept hearing about how everyone LOVED the doc-a-tot, so, when I had some money left after making a return I bought one. It was easy for us to bring it with when traveling to someones house so she could have a place to nap but that didn't happen often and she quickly became too long for it. We used it for about a month and then had no use for it. It also takes up a lot of space, so storing it after we were done using it was difficult.

Fancy Diaper Pail
For the first few months Bellas diapers were so small and she would potty so often we would have waisted all the bags in the fancy pail if we would have thrown the diapers in it. Also, surprisingly, her breastmilk poops hardly had a scent to them. So, for convince we ended up just putting a command hook on the side of her changing table and hanging a grocery bag from it. It was so much easier to toss the diapers into that than to shove them into the fancy pail. We also felt like we were waisting the fancy pail bags by putting such small diapers in it.

Wipe Warmer
Not only does the wipe warmer dry out the wipes but when you are out-and-about and the baby doesn't have the warm wipes, they reallllly don't like the cold wipes.

Bottle Steamer
I thought this would be a good idea and easy way to help make sure the bottles stayed extra sanitized. Well, Bella was born 7 months ago and I haven't taken it out of the box. There really is no time for this and if you want to sanitize a bottle or two, I recommend tossing them into the pump sanitizer bags.

Bottle Warmer
I also thought this would be a good idea. We soon found out that a coffee mug with hot water in it works just as well. You don't have to spend $ and you can carry the mug all around the house without having to keep it plugged in.

Clothes
Baby clothes are soooooooo cute! But, if you can, return most of them. It is so much easier to just toss on a onesie than to try to pull together an outfit everyday. They are most comfortable in a onesie and spit up everywhere so you will constantly be changing them anyways. They also outgrow the clothes so fast that some of the stuff won't even get warn. It is nice to have a couple outfits for special outings and that will work well for the season but a closet full of clothes is only going to be a hassle.
