Our Halloween Themed Gender Reveal

Mike and I were so excited to find out the gender of our baby but wanted to share the moment with our friends and family. Since we were going to be able to find out around Halloween we thought it would be fun to throw an epic Halloween themed gender reveal party. Here are a couple things we did to make the party a little extra special.

The Invitations:

The invitations were very time consuming but turned out SO cute and were just what I wanted. I stared by cutting out the diaper shape, then making the insert and adding the ribbon.

The Decorations:

I thought it would be cute to have everything Halloween colored while still incorporating baby items. So, I purchased everything baby I could find and had my husband get out the spray paint. Surprisingly, we were able to find a lot of decorations at the Dollar Tree and we purchased the cauldron from Party City.

My Costume:

I loved the idea of having "Team Pirate"- for boy and "Team Mermaid"- for girl but finding a costume that would fit my growing belly that I would feel comfortable in was hard so I decided to piece together my own.

My Pants:
These are super stretchy but I sized up anyways

My Top:

Bodysuit:
Was from BooHoo however I think it is no longer available

My Husbands Costume:

The Smoke Bomb:

We got both colors and had our friend put the correct colored smoke bomb in the bag. She also wrapped it with foil (leaving the wick out) so we would not be able to tell which color it was. We also  bought a couple extra so we could test it out and we could have backup incase it didn't work. We put some sand in the bottom of the cauldron for the smoke bomb to sit on so it didn't melt the plastic cauldron and I would also recommend having some water nearby in case anything catches fire. The entire backyard filled with smoke so I highly recommend doing it in a very large open space away from everyone.

The Cauldron:
It took a while to find a cauldron that was big enough but after some serious searching I was able to find one at Party City. I had to go into the store because I wanted to make sure it was the correct size and that it didn't have any dents in it since it was a flimsy plastic.

  1. Love this! I’m going to do this. Thanks for the idea. How big was the cauldron ? You lit the smoke bomb with a match?
    Thanks so much!
